The Sienna project takes 10-20 volunteers down to Guatemala every year to assist in building. Our next trip for building another school is scheduled during the week from Saturday, January 28th to Saturday, February 4th, 2017.
We ‘gringos’ work hard for a full week and each ‘gringo’ is responsible for paying for their own expenses – transportation to Guatemala city, hotel accommodations and restaurant meals. Prices in Guatemala are significantly below US prices.
Volunteering to help will not only allow you to help a wonderful but exploited peoples; it will also allow you to connect with them in a way that most tourists cannot. You are quite literally an important part of their lives.
If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the form below.
Someone from the Sienna project will contact you shortly.
Our next and quite possibly last trip tentatively involves:
•Staying in Guatemalan hotels in Chichicastenango (comfortable but humble) and Lake Atitlan/Antigua (usually quite nice for a night).
•Eating in Guatemalan restaurants (no KFC, no McDonald’s, no raw veggies or unpeeled fruit and no feedlot fattened meat, but for the adventous delicious if somewhat carnivous).
•Terrain at work site and local streets is uneven
•At the worksite we are working at elevation of 8,000 feet
•Construction site has considerable dust
•Cost: airline tickets to Guatemala City +/- $700.00
•Other costs: $900.00 for all internal expenses, food, travel around Guatemala (except personal shopping). Hardship/experience scholarships may be available.
Please apply and we will do our best to accommodate.
